Plumbing Repair in North Bay
Plumbing repair in North Bay is the core service of Poly-B Plumbing, a residential and light commercial plumber owned and run by Paul Bosse, a second-generation Red Seal journeyman in the trade since 2003. This page is the index of every repair Poly-B does, from a dripping tap to a collapsed sewer lateral, with a line on each so you land on the right page and the right part comes on the truck. Every repair is quoted by the job in writing, done as a cut-and-replace rather than a patch, and covered by up to $5 million in liability insurance. Emergency calls are taken during business hours. Call 705-345-6616.

How Poly-B repairs, in one paragraph
Diagnose before quoting: a meter test, a pressure test, thermal imaging or a camera, whichever the symptom warrants. Quote in writing by the job, never by the hour, with repair and replacement priced side by side where both apply. Fix it properly: copper soldered or ProPress, PEX crimped or expanded, OEM parts in fixtures, no push-fit fittings, no clamps, no patches. Test before leaving, clean up, and document with photos where an insurer will want them. The detail pages above each say what that means for their repair.
What repairs cost in North Bay
Poly-B Plumbing does not publish a rate card because every job is quoted after diagnosis, but the model is the same on every page: a flat-rate written price before work starts, with no emergency surcharge. Hourly plumbing in Ontario commonly runs $150 to $300 an hour with no ceiling until the job is over; a flat-rate quote moves that risk off you. Members of the $49-per-month plan get priority scheduling, discounts on repairs and an annual inspection.
Why repairs look different in North Bay
Three things shape almost every repair here. Winter: North Bay reaches minus 20 and colder every year, the City requires 1.8 m of cover on buried services for frost protection, and pipes inside older homes have nothing like that. Water: the municipal supply from Trout Lake is pH-adjusted at the plant for corrosion control, while wells around Corbeil, Astorville, Bonfield and Powassan carry soft, acidic Shield water that pinholes copper. Ground: Canadian Shield bedrock sends spring melt sideways into foundations and sewer laterals heave with the frost. The repair pages explain how each one changes the job.
Licensing
Plumber (306A) is a compulsory trade in Ontario regulated by Skilled Trades Ontario. Poly-B’s owner holds Red Seal journeyman certification, is licensed for plumbing, wells, septic and backflow prevention, and carries up to $5 million in liability insurance. Poly-B does not do gas or propane work; that is TSSA-regulated and referred to a licensed gas technician.

Plumbing repair questions from North Bay homeowners
Does Poly-B offer after-hours emergency repairs?
No. Emergency calls are taken Monday to Thursday 7 am to 7 pm and Friday 7 am to 5 pm, and prioritized in those hours. Close the main shut-off, contain the water and call at 7 am.
Does Poly-B charge by the hour?
No. Poly-B Plumbing diagnoses first and quotes the job in writing, so the price is known before work starts, on urgent calls as on any other.
Will Poly-B patch a leaking pipe?
No. The failed section is cut out and replaced in copper or PEX. Clamps, tape and epoxy are not repairs.
Does Poly-B repair gas water heaters?
The water side, yes: valves, connections, expansion tanks, flushing and leaks. Burner, gas valve and gas line work is TSSA-regulated and done by a licensed gas technician.
How do I know which page to start with?
Use the table at the top of this page. If the symptom fits two rows, call 705-345-6616 and describe it; Poly-B Plumbing will tell you what it likely is before the truck leaves.
