The Poly-B story
Poly-B Plumbing and Drain Services started as a small plumbing business and grew, job by job, into one of the more trusted names in North Bay for clean, code-compliant work that lasts. It is a multi-generational, family-run company: Paul learned the trade from the generation before him, and Bryce is learning it now. The business shows up when it says it will, explains the problem in plain words, and treats the property like its own. Where the name Poly-B came from
The company name has drawn curiosity, and some criticism, from plumbers who know their materials. Poly-B is the trade nickname for polybutylene, a grey plastic pipe sold from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s as the cheap, easy future of plumbing. Its fittings thinned and failed over time, homes flooded, and a class action followed against the manufacturers. Plumbers spend a good part of their careers replacing it. So why name a company after it? The answer is simpler than the history: after months of brainstorming, Paul Bosse landed on a name that folds his own initial and surname into something short, catchy and easy to remember. He and Jody embraced it, and customers in North Bay did too. The one thing the name does not mean is that Poly-B installs polybutylene. The company replaces it, in copper or PEX, on every re-pipe.
What Poly-B stands for
- Diagnose before quoting. A price on an unknown problem is a guess, so Poly-B tests first.
- Flat rate, in writing. Every job is quoted by the task, not the hour, and the invoice matches the quote.
- Do it to code, or say why not. Ontario Building Code on every job, permits where required, and no push-fit fittings hidden in a wall.
- Say what is out of scope. No gas or propane work, no after-hours service. Customers hear that up front.
- Leave it clean. Drop cloths and shoe covers in, full cleanup out.
- Follow up. Documentation after the visit, and reminders for members whose systems need yearly attention.

Paul Bosse holds a Certificate of Qualification as a plumber (306A) with the interprovincial Red Seal endorsement. Poly-B Plumbing is licensed for plumbing, wells, septic and backflow prevention and carries up to $5 million in liability insurance. What Poly-B does
The work falls into four groups, each with its own hub of pages: plumbing repair for leaks, drains, water heaters, sump pumps, fixtures and sewer lines; plumbing installations for water heaters, fixtures, well pumps, softeners and backwater valves; plumbing maintenance including water filtration, pressure testing, backflow testing and pre-purchase inspections; and new-construction and light commercial rough-ins and finish plumbing. The $49-per-month membership adds seasonal reminders, priority scheduling and member pricing.

No. Poly-B is an independent, family-owned company in North Bay, owned by Paul and Jody Bosse. There is no franchise fee built into the price and no call centre between you and the plumber.
